“No living being deserves to be abandoned, especially a dog who was terribly ill and yet was left to fend for herself by her family. Fortunately, angels appeared on her path, giving her a second chance at life. Sabina’s body was covered in sores due to her illness.
Once having a home, Sabina ended up on the streets of Tabasco, Mexico, after contracting papilloma and TVT (transmissible venereal tumor). Her body began emitting a foul odor due to the disease, and as it became covered in eruptions, people rejected her and refused to help.
Sabina begged for help from anyone who passed by. Then, unexpectedly, a kind woman leaned down, petted her, and promised to return with assistance. The dog trusted those words, which restored her hope, and from there, everything changed.
The furry one was rescued by the association Caninos 911, A.C., where she immediately received veterinary attention. Her recovery would be a long road, but neither she nor the rescuers were willing to give up.
Her health deteriorated further at the start of her treatment. Despite everyone’s efforts to heal Sabina, her body wasn’t responding properly, and her condition worsened. She needed to remain in urgent care, and the association shared her story online, hoping internet users would support her veterinary costs. After 15 days, Sabina’s sores finally began to heal. She was able to be discharged; she discovered that life has many good things to offer beautiful beings like her and learned to take it one day at a time.
Her treatment required 9 long months. With time, not only her body but also her battered soul recovered, and she was finally put up for adoption. It was time to march towards a new home.
She was adopted, and the best awaited her. It was a family from the same town as the shelter who decided to open their home to Sabina. Her new human mom is named Rosaura Fiorini, and she has several canine siblings who, like her, were also rescued and adopted.
Sabina gained a human brother named Sebastián who teaches her many tricks. Every day is an adventure for this dog. She loves going for walks in the park, and when she returns home, she lies down next to her human dad to be showered with lots of cuddles and hugs, as she has always deserved.
Now she has the best life. After being on the brink of losing her life, Sabina celebrated her 5th birthday a couple of months ago. Her family is more than happy to have her by their side and has forgotten her sad past with so much love received.
The association has continued to closely monitor Sabina’s progress, and although she has completely forgotten the difficult process she went through, they are happy to see her great transformation and happiness. There is no doubt, after the storm comes the calm and something much better. Congratulations, Sabina, you deserve all the happiness in the world! You too can change the lives of many needy animals; you just have to open your heart and promote adoption.”
